SERVICING CARS FOR OVER 100 YEARS!

The Carnemolla family has been servicing motor vehicles for the community in the Drummoyne and Russell Lea areas for almost one hundred years to the present day, spanning 3 generations.

They began selling petrol and servicing motor vehicles in the early 1900s when Frank Carnemolla (Snr) completed his apprenticeship, this was at a time when fuel was purchased in a can and there were not a lot of vehicles on the road, but Frank Snr recognised that it was a growing industry.

Following the closure of the old Gladesville Bridge in 1964, Frank’s sons, Frank (Jnr) and Andy Carnemolla relocated the business to the BP Service Station on Lyons Road, Russell Lea. Following the death of Frank Snr in 1971, their sister Val Waites continued to run the service station in Victoria Place and also continued to manage the family net making business until its closure in the mid 1980s.

In 1992 Mike Carnemolla, Frank (Snr)’s Grandson, also joined the business as a motor mechanic apprentice at the age of 17 and worked with his dad and uncle at the service station for over 20 years.

In 2008 the BP service station was demolished and the site was painstakingly remediated. Frank and Mike continued to service vehicles from what buildings were left on the site with the support and loyalty from their customers.

Mike has recently taken over the business, now known as 313 Automotive ensuring a third generation of the Carnemolla family will continue into the future to offer the excellent service started so long ago by his grandfather.
